Position: Director of Professional Services and Safety

Location: Princeton, NJ

Duties:

As Director – Safety Services, US, the primary responsibility will be to lead Safety Professional Services practice in US for Life Science, Pharmaceutical and Clinical Research clients.

The Director – Safety Services, US's responsibility is to ensure we deliver quality implementations and upgrades of software, supporting Sales and Client Partner teams in increasing annual recurring bookings and managing Professional Services revenue generation, utilisation and gross margin targets. The Director – Safety Service, US will also be responsible for successful execution of Managed Services and ad-hoc projects and achieving customer satisfaction targets.

 

The Director – Safety Services, US has overall responsibility for the effectiveness and success  software implementations, which includes ensuring the software is deployed in alignment with the product roadmap, thus streamlining the internal processes of product development and release management. In addition to the financial, product, and implementation objectives, Director – Safety Service, US will support, recruiting, training, monitoring, managing and retaining consultants in the respective practice, as well as assuring the practice is capable of demonstrating delivery excellence for deployments/upgrades and associated projects.

 

The Director – Safety Services must demonstrate leadership skills, teamwork, program management, mentoring, conflict resolution, negotiating, partnering, decision-making and is accountable for creating an environment that fosters the development of multiple functional areas across the region. This person also must mentor and develop functional and Project Managers and must set the standards for cooperation and collaboration across the region and company.

Requirement:

Additional responsibilities include the following:  

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT:

  • Responsible achievement of KPIs as defined for the Professional Services projects assigned to the practice. Report regular progress on these KPIs to VP, Global Professional Services and AVP, Safety Services on a regular basis
  • Support Professional Services practice development and key processes to maximize the creation of repeatable consulting solutions
  • Integrates industry knowledge into practical sales-related tactics, techniques and procedures to ensure teams deliver well-rounded and well-developed sales campaigns
  • Ensure knowledge capture and transfer within the practice and among key departments in the development of “best practices”
  • Monitors practice job performance and provides coaching, counseling, and motivation to maximize practice performance. Recruits and hires employees, based on global profiles, who can help grow and drive  business strategy
  • Mitigate project implementation risk through the development of new strategies and through active risk management
  • Collaborate with other departments like Product Engineering, Product Management, SPU, etc. to improve Professional Services service offerings and overall customer satisfaction
  •  Serve as the main contact for the customer on large or critical projects; maintain and grow relationships; act in the role of the “trusted advisor”
  • Responsible for role of Subject Matter Expert on key projects and initiatives to ensure success from delivery point of view

 

PROGRAM AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

  • Ensure client satisfaction
  • Identify, assist and help resolve trouble projects proactively
  • Project Estimation: support the Professional Services sales process and ensure the project estimation thorough and accurate, then assure the project is executed in line with signed SOW
  • Project Execution: work with project managers during the monitoring phase and ensure risks and issues are managed effectively
  • Project Reviews: Recurring reviews of the project health with PMO as well as steering committee
  • Assist PMs with development of the Project Execution Framework and kickoff
  • Ensure Project Managers are creating project plans and managing project timelines, resources, budgets and project deliverables
  • Maintain regular communications with the customer on the project

 

SALES AND MARKETING:

  • Oversee all RFs, including the estimates, content, and delegation to team
  • Support Sales, CPT and Marketing teams on new proposals and opportunities
  • Support roadshows and industry events like DIA etc. to promote company’s solution and services
  • Participate in industry events like DIA and other regulatory domain related to improve the service offerings and assigned practice
  • Expand relationships with clients into ongoing partnerships
  • Identify future business opportunities

 

LEADERSHIP:

  • Assist in implementing the region performance objectives and leadership model
  • Create a profitable and enjoyable work environment
  • Maintain the region’s focus on moving forward and continuous improvement

 

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

  • Mentor and help functional and project managers
  • Establish goals for functional and project managers
  • Ensure timely and effective performance evaluations are being completed
  • Assist in resolving performance issues

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrable relevant domain experience
  • Proven experience with software implementation projects and methodologies (including SDLC, architectures, etc.)
  • Project/IT/Services consulting background essential
  • Practice management business development experience
  • Life Sciences (comprising Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Bio Tech) industry product knowledge required
